December was a month full of activities, festivities, and excitement. The Kindergarten was busy with the Nutcracker- both attending and performing. Happy Holidays! Have a safe and joyful week to enjoy your family and all of your favorite winter traditions. It is looking to become a winter wonderland here in Burlington!

November 2010
Happy Birthday to M-E and Dao this month.
We have all had fun at our field trips so far this year. Take a look at some of the photos.
Kindergarten trip to Parlee:
Kindergarten trip to the Franklin Park Zoo:
Grade 1 to Davis Farmland:
Grade 2 to Discovery Museum
We were also lucky enough to have soldiers come visit our room to thank us for donating Halloween candy. We made sure that we thanked THEM for protecting us and serving our country. It was a great way to recognize Veteran's Day.

There is no school on Friday so we may meet with families. Many of you have conferences schedule. We look forward to seeing you and discussing progress.

October
This week in school our first graders had a visit from Al Fay and his antique fire truck. Mr. Fay talked to the children about fire prevention and fire safety.
We also have some exciting field trips coming up this month.
October 14th- Grade 1 is going to Davis Farmland
October 27th- Grade 2 is going to The Discovery Museum
October 28th- Kindergarten is going to The Franklin Park Zoo
If you are looking for something to do this weekend, AMC Theaters has a sensory friendly showing of The Zookeeper in Tyngsboro and Framingham. The theater will have the lights up, the volume down, and kids are free to move their bodies without being shushed.
Reminder: Picture day is coming up on Wednesday, Oct. 13th for Kindergarten through Grade 2.

Open House
We had another exciting week at school. The children all attended a road safety assembly with Officer Schipelliti. They learned about how to cross the street safely and watch for cars when walking. At the end, they practiced jumping safely from the back of a bus.
On Tuesday, we have Open House at the Francis Wyman School. Teachers will be doing presentations in the auditorium by grade level as follows.
5:30-6 Kindergarten
6–6:30 Grade 1
6:30–7 Grade 2
We will be here from 5:30-7:30 if you would like to visit Room 104.

Welcome!
I took some photos of our beautiful school to help new students get ready for their new environment. If you have been to our school, make it a trivia game and see if you know where to find the landmarks. Enjoy looking at the pictures!

The First Post
I started this blog as a way for families to find out more about what we are working on in class. You will be able to look here to see what we have been doing in Language, Phonics, and Math.
I encourage families to use this as a conversation starter with your student. So often, when we ask, "What did you do today?", we get the answer, "Nothing." You know that the fine teachers of Burlington are not getting paid to do nothing with your children all day, so here is how you can lead the conversation and reinforce what they have learned.
